Worminghall Playground
A new playground for Worminghall?

Would you like a new playground in the village?

Dear Worminghall Resident

As you may have read in the Bernwode News, we are are trying to establish how much support there is in Worminghall for a new young children’s playground in the village. If we can show a significant level of support, then the Parish Council and other local authorities will be encouraged to support us too. The level of our support will have a direct impact on the scale of the playground and its equipment too.

If you’d like to take your children or grandchildren somewhere to play outdoors without getting in a car, to build their social skills, meet new friends and be able to trust your older children to walk somewhere safe to play on their own, then you might agree we need a playground in Worminghall.

In many surrounding villages the playground is an important community meeting place and keeps the village young, vibrant and attractive to new families thinking of moving to the area.

There are grants and such to support local initiatives like this too.

If anyone reading this was involved in previous playground campaigns, then please get in touch to share your valuable learning with us.

In the meantime, if you are interested in a new, great playground (environmentally sympathetic and designed for ages 0-12), for your children. And if you would be able to lend some sort of support, eg from just letting us know you agree that we need a playground, to signing a petition and letter writing etc, please get in touch. We won’t get very far if there doesn’t appear to be strong demand for this, so we need to establish how much support we have locally.

Alternatively, if you are a landowner who may have suitable land to donate / lease / sell, we’d love to hear from you too.

In the meantime, if you would please answer a couple of questions on this form, and click send, we will then add your feedback to the total received so far.

We’ll keep you updated on progress in the Bernwode News too.

Regards,

Jo and Emma,
Parents of children in Worminghall

Would you support a new playground, for ages 0-12, in Worminghall :
How many children / grandchildren are there currently in your household or regularly visiting your household? :

*SUPPORTING NOTES: The best places are where parents and children think it is safe, with good sight lines to home and other houses and good street lighting (for when it is dark and/or raining. A street frontage is best, it is not so good if the playground is hidden, as parents are reassured if they can see into it. Ideally the location should be on regular pedestrian flow routes and away from busy traffic routes, located within the accepted pedestrian travel range of young children (they should not have to rely on their parentschildren to take them). The site does not have to be level and flat. Park, public open space, church, village hall or housing department land which cannot be built on are all worth considering. Distance from existing services (gas, electric, water and drains) may be a factor which can add to costs if not by an existing road, which normally carries them. A development would not start without planning permission.

Would you be happy to put your name to a petition? :

If so, please give a name, email address and contact number below :

Would you be happy to take a more active involvement in campaigning for a playground? Eg letter writing, phone calls to local counsellors / representatives? :
